As we close the curtains on 2023, I cannot help but reminisce about pitching a novice Netflix to investors back in 1997—mailing out DVDs to offer unlimited access to movies and shows. It sounded crazy then, but Reed and I were determined to make watching what you want, when you want, a reality.
We made that dream a reality, disrupted the market with on-demand entertainment, and introduced the term binge-watching into cultural norms. It was never smooth sailing, but making millions of people happy filled us with joy.
Looking back at what Reed and I did and achieved in the last 25+ years, I feel nothing but immense pride. I am thankful to have played an important role in the field of entertainment distribution. 2023 is a year to remember for Netflix, especially Netflix India, as it became the first streaming server in India to win global awards. Indian content was consumed not only in India but globally.
Of course, our work is never done. Here’s to hoping for a great 2024. Thanks to all of our subscribers for tuning in.
